Description:
Installation & Maintenance:
Oversee the installation and maintenance of themed elements, including facades, rides, interiors, and props.
Ensure the quality and durability of creative elements, including scenic designs and other themed areas.
Technical Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the maintenance of themed surfaces and elements.
Maintain and repair themed surfaces such as concrete rockwork, fiberglass props, fences, and more.
Material Use & Application:
Expertise in painting techniques, including civil and decorative painting, faux finishes (stone, wood, metal, marble, aging), and color mixing.
Work with various materials like fiberglass, cement, polystyrene, polyurethane, and two-component polyurethane paints for industrial applications.
Apply realistic faux finishes and aging effects on surfaces, and work with gelcoat for fiberglass and water-based applications.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all installations meet safety standards and guidelines.
Perform regular safety checks and assessments to ensure the safety of the themed installations and attractions.
Tool Usage & Equipment:
Proficient in using a variety of tools, including spray guns, brushes, sandpaper, spatulas, power tools, and trowels for painting and sculpting.
Comfortable working with fiberglass, concrete, and other materials for the creation and repair of themed structures.
Team Collaboration & Reporting:
Report directly to the Theming Maintenance Assistant Manager and collaborate closely with the Theming Fabricator.
Provide training and guidance to junior staff on creative systems and processes.
Lead training sessions for juniors on various theming and scenic painting, sculpting techniques to ensure the proper surfacing and maintenance of themed areas.
Continuous Improvement & Learning:
Stay up to date with emerging trends and techniques in the theming industry.
Participate in brainstorming sessions for the development of new attractions and themed experiences (as future opportunities arise).
Requirements
Education:
A degree in applied fine arts is preferable (in addition to Fine Arts, Decorative Painting, Theatre Arts, Technical Theatre, or a related field).
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in civil or decorative painting, sculpture, scenic painting, or themed environment creation.
Experience working with various materials like fiberglass, concrete, polystyrene, and polyurethane.
Skills:
Proficiency in color mixing, faux finishing techniques, and application of acrylic, polyurethane, bi-component, and water-based paints.
Skilled in spray gun painting and automotive painting processes (for senior roles).
Experience with concrete carving, polystyrene carving, and fiberglass work.
Strong manual skills and familiarity with tools like spray guns, spatulas, sandpaper, and power tools.
Personal Qualities:
A strong work ethic and a passion for hands-on tasks.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Fluency in English is required.
