The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes cost estimation, budgeting, tendering, contract administration, and cost control throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure it is completed within budget and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
Manage tendering processes and evaluate contractor bids
Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQ)
Monitor project expenditures and track variations or changes
Prepare and review contracts, subcontracts, and agreements
Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants on commercial matters
Conduct site visits to verify progress and validate claims
Assess and value progress payments, variations, and final accounts
Provide advice on contractual claims and dispute resolution
Support procurement of materials and subcontractors
Maintain detailed project cost reports and documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
2–5+ years of experience in quantity surveying or cost management
Familiarity with construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JCT)
Proficiency in cost estimating and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD, MS Excel)
